Research at Advanced Genomics is focused to identify more effective ways to prevent and treat disease at early stage before signs and symptoms develop. Advanced Genomics is collaborating with national and international hospitals and research institutes to get RNA and DNA samples direct from the patients, develop and validate gene signatures and gene expression profiling for diseases like cancer and infectious diseases. With the genomic tools like aCGH, SNPs sequencing and gene expression profiling, we are in the process of studying disease pathways and identify lead candidates for biomarker discovery.  DNA biomarkers direct from patients are more reliable and can be used as candidates for drug development.

Disease pathway: Most diseases are due to number of genes and many variations. Therefore, only SNPs variant study is not a reliable way to identify disease target as the effects of one SNP is often cancelled or masked by the effect of other SNP variants. We at Advanced Genomics use gene expression along with SNP variants analyses to produce more reliable disease pathway studies.
Biomarker discovery: Gene expression is the specific way to identify lead candidate genes that are significant predictors for biomarker discovery across all studies. At Advanced Genomics, we are identifying biomarkers for drug metabolism, drug transport, immune response, inflammation, central nervous system development, apoptosis, and diseases like diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and various infections. They are used for:

1. Properly stratifying multiple diseases that may be superficially similar and currently considered as one disease
2. Defining mechanism of action for diseases, determine aggressiveness of tumor
3. Identifying the right patients, stratify the patient populations, decide whether to perform surgery or use less invasive treatments
4. Identifying disease susceptibility
